It was 4:13AM (16th September 2012), I received a text message saying “Doctor Mavayya is no more”. It was shock to me and felt the world upside down a moment. Being bad at expressing my feelings, I was dead stunned recollecting the memories of him. Cold tears rolled down on my cheeks (though I was thinking about absolutely nothing) brought back me to this world saying this is what you are feeling after hearing the loss.

What is death? Death is a word applicable to mere mortals. My mom told me that death is nothing but – end of the person. If that is the case, then Dcotor Barla Lakshmi Vara Prasad Rao Naidu is an immortal. There is no end to him. He is with everyone. He saved uncountable lives and became God to them (everyone).

“I want to be a doctor…”, “I want to become like HIM…” these are the common sentences one can usually hear from the next generation kids in the village (Narsipuram) and surrounding villages. Who is he? A person whose name became synonym to Doctor! The benevolent person’s smile itself is a cure to many human diseases.

He was a born leader. Good at everything. First in achieve everything in the village. And following the saying – “God takes away all great people first”, he stood first in his generation reaching the God. The Godly human is not among the humans now.

He became a demy God not just because he is a doctor but just because he a person with greatest humanity. He helped so many families financially as well as morally and now the only altruist of the era is no more.

Bidding farewell to the magnanimous person is very hard. He may not be physically with us but he is imperishable among hearts of everyone.

It is an unrecoverable loss not only to the family but also to the community and society.

Relationship

Do not behave like a kid when the latter does !

Do not behave like an adult when the latter does !

Try to complement with the latter..

Try not to compete to do better..

All in this world we care for love..

Because it is as delicate as dove..

Balamitra

“I want to become a doctor and highly motivated to help the poor”, “I want to become an engineer and like to settle in the best possible manner”, “I want to become District Collector”, “I want to become a scientist”… Looking back to those days when we were novice, deeply filled with ideas of contribution to the society, profoundly affected little ingenuous hearts with revolutionary ideas, confidently promised to our heart that we would contribute something to the society and would be a part of social uplift. Now what is the status of those child dreams after stabilized financially and socially??

Now, the so called dreams in this busy world with hectic schedules have gone into the attic. The simple justification we give ourselves is that “we don’t have time. If we have the so TIME then we would ready to contribute !” But how far this alibi keep these thoughts on ice? In our surroundings, we see so many children without basic education, diseased and differently able with malnutrition, lack of proper care, roaming on roads and begging. Who should take care of them? Government introduced so many reforms and reservations for the backward (here it is strictly to the tribes). What is the use of these reservations if those tribes does not have basic education? A lending hand can bring them up!

We believe that education is an important vehicle of self-assertion and social development. But many Adivasi children have no access to primary education, as they have to walk long distances, crossing streams and forests, only to rely on governmental education where teachers are either absent or disrespectful of their culture and traditional knowledge, while providing no vocational skills to help children in the long run. There are so many NGOs(Non Government Organizations) to show some light in their future. One among them is Samata

Samata is a not-for-profit social organization working for the protection of the Eastern Ghats and assertion of Adivasi people’s rights and cultures for the last two decades. It was formally registered under the Societies Act XXI in 1991 and is based in Visakhapatnam and working with tribal and rural communities of eastern ghats in north coastal districts of Andhrapradesh.
As part of CSR/ Employee Pay role giving/ tax savings/ donations any company/organization could contribute to the education of these children. A small contribution from our monthly income would make a major difference. These contributions are exempt from Income Tax under Section 80G and 12A. Samata is also registered under the Foreign Contribution Registration Act.

Visit schools online at www.balamitra.org and to know more about the program for Tribal Children Welfare.

Please contribute for the noble cause. Sum of many little amounts as a whole can help in blossoming those children’s future.

If ‘Trust’ is said to be a pillar for any relation, then “Understanding” is the other one. Whether it is Dwapara Yuga or Kali Yuga, these characteristics are common. From Sri Krishna to Krishna Devaraya, Krishna Devaraya to today’s relationships, there are so many examples which provide strong base for this.

During early India there were so many customs and traditions in the society. One among those customs was presenting ‘aranam’ (gift) to the newly wedded bride. These  vary from non-living things to living beings viz., a common gift was ‘cow’, so that the bride will stay healthy after her married life too (Cow-milk was said to be mother of all foods to any human irrespective of the age). If a common man/family could afford to present a ‘cow’ then what about the King? He owns everything except mental peace.

Krishna Devaraya married to a princess who brought a ‘poet’ as ‘aranam’ with her to the family. His name is ‘Nandi Timmana’ (He was one among the group of 8 famous poets called ‘Astadiggaja’ whos served for King Krishna Devaraya). His duty was to entertain the King with his poems and stanzas. One night, the queen, tired with her work, slept before the King slept (this was said to be insulting king as she failed to do ‘Pati Dharma’). Adding to the vows, the queen’s leg touched the king during the sleep (unintentionally). The furious king, sent the queen to her parents in the next morning. Knowing the situation, the poet ‘Timmana’ thought to teach a lesson to the king in a manner which hurt no one. Then came the context of ‘Parijatapaharanam’. Timmana made the King to read the poem and made him realize the mistake he committed.

So what is about the poem?

This incident happened during ‘Dwapara Yuga’ between Sri Krishna and Satyabhama.

One day Krishna gave a flower(Parijata Pushapam) to his wife Rukmini, one among the 8 wives. Sulking Satyabhama, another wife of Sri Krishna, laying angrily on the bed and waiting for her husband’s attention towards her. Sri Krishna entered the room, sat at the end of the bed and tried to convince her about the situation. Insatiable Satyabhama kicked on the chest of Krishna. Without any anger, by understanding the situation, softly said to his wife that he was so worried. He said that her soft feather like feet might get hurt because of the hair on his chest when she kicked. And then he promised her that he will bring not only a single flower but also a whole tree for her. Satisfied and realized Satyabhama smiled and left the sulking mode.

These things happen in every relation in different ways irrespective of the era. There are so many quibbles often lead to a big destruction in every relation. Petty issues can be minimized if people understand each other. We often laugh at the moments those moments where we cried. The giant issues in the past seems to be so stupid now. These issues can be avoided only one can understand the situation and feelings of others. It is not just Sri Krishna or Krishna Devaraya  only faced these kind of situations. Every one face these. Those who can overcome these can have a beautiful life !!

G(old)en Memories !

Hum navyug ki nayi bharti nayi aarti.

Hum swaraj ki richa naval bharat ki nav nay ho

Aah.. the feeling, the immense pleasure every Navodayan feels after listening to the above stanza is ineffable. These few lines brought back all the golden memories…

Few days back I visited my school(I studied there from Class 6 to 10), the place where my most of the childhood blossomed. This time it has been 9 years since I passed out(Class 10) from there. To describe the scenic beauty of its geography, one will sure end with short of words ! surrounded by green Hills and River Gostani, away from all kinds Pollution, in other words, A Paradise. Before reaching there we(our friends) were in constant touch thinking about what to do once we reach there, Who all are coming, why others are unable to turn up sort of.. Everyone filled with some special excitement thinking about the day. And at last the day came !

At the age of 10, the age when  a juvenile is like a malleable hot rod which is ready to take a definite shape, I joined after accused of sitting on the fence, whether to join(In order to get a seat in Navodaya School, one should qualify in the entrance exam) or not. Full of questions and undefined cerebrations entered the classroom and found the same in everyone. Class 6th students are junior most and class 12th takes the Seniors. At home, you are the darling of everyone, treated like a prince, and will never get to see the society at the raw age. This is where one can learn the social ethics(the school is a boarding school and staying in hostel is mandatory).

Daily salubrious Time Table which starts with a Morning Vistle followed by P.E.T(though it was literally pain in @$$) along with chantings of Bhagavadgita(Mainly Geethopadesam), following of Q system to get fresh up (I think here forms the first bond – “Arey Today I will run fast after P.E.T and I will keep place for u at the water Tank”), neatly groomed head, sharing and celebrating of break fast which consists different menu (Monday – soporific Bhagora, Tuesday – Infamous Idly, Wednesday – Special Khichidi, Thursday – Common Pulihora, Friday – Mucilaginous Upma, Saturday – Again Khichidi and Sunday – All time favourite Poori :P ), School Prayer (Roll Call, Prayer Song, Thought for the day, Pledge, News, GK Questions, Janaganama), Sweeping Batch (we should clean our own class rooms), Classes, Lunch, Study Hours, Games & Sports, wrestling(special :P ), Dinner (Aham Vaiswa Naro Bhootva … ) and apart from this, Fights between South-North, Gardening, Doordarshan programs, exams, CCAs, Saturday class room games, awesome teachers, Music Hall, Power cut bucket performances, Parents Day, Inter House competitions, Cluster level games, sharing knowledge, celebrating festivals, rain dances, Jumping over the school fence and abscond to watch newly released Old movies, SPECIAL BOOKS, Library, writing letters to home, Navodaya Special Lingo, Setti, book cricket, slate tennis.. Whoa !! So many memories.. all are cherished ones.

Now at the age of 24, visited the same place with full of memories. And now met most of my childhood partners in crime and noticed the change(physical change Only) in everyone. To my amusement, I felt the place is same as the one i spent my important part of life, irrespective of the internal structural changes. Enjoyed a lot rewinding all the stupid things.. laughing heartily with artless friends and what not ! Now I can proudly say that My Navodaya taught me how to behave in society and now I can turn my hand to anything.

The Atma

We have been told and taught by our elders that everyone possess ‘Atma’ (Soul). We hear people saying that there is no end to ‘Atma’ i.e. the physical body attached to it only will demise where as the ‘Soul’ lasts forever. In fact we often apprehend many of the elders saying “All the physical bodies attach to the same Atma”. If that is so, why do many conflicts occur ? How too see or recognize the ‘Atma’? How to contact the ‘Atma’ ? Why doesn’t everyone think alike ? Why can’t we feel what the others do ? Why can’t we visualize the others’ perception ? Or do we act as if don’t understand the others’ intentions though we do ? Is the ‘Atma’ and the ‘state of Conscious’ are one and the same ?

One can travel up to certain extent with the imagination whereas can reach any where with the heart. The one that is far away from the ‘state of Conscious’ is the ‘State of Super Conscious’, that is ‘Atma’.

Deciphering a situation with the help of proper imagination and personal experience is what is called as ‘the state of Conscious’. And thus the state with artlessness is the ‘State of Super Conscious’ i.e. ‘Atma’.

In order to channel with the Atma, first one should keep his heart lucid and with no guile. One should know the whereabouts of own pain so as to avoid hurting others by acting without considering the latter’s perception. Think, pause before you leap ! The one who succeeds in achieving this, can accomplish in communicating with ‘the Atma’.

When a father can see through the Son’s perception and the vice-verse, a husband and a wife, boss and an employee, teacher and a students and so on.. i.e. If a person try to know about the perception of the others with pure heart rather thinking with only his point of view can avail in contacting the ‘Atma’. This can lead to the mental peace, which is impervious in these days !!!

The Faith !

Once upon a time there was a fun loving kid who likes to go to beach daily for a walk. One day, while he was playing with sand, found a thing that resembled Shankha. He took it and returned home. Later his father found that the kid has been hiding something and rejected to show it when he asked. The father waited and waited with curiosity thinking that some day the kid will come to him. One fine day he told his father that he found an wounded creature and showed the thing to him. The father told that it was not a creature and not even a living organism. But the Kid didn’t believe his father and kept supporting his argument.

Days, months and years passed. The father passed away and the Kid became a father of two. The children found the Shankha while playing. They took it to their father and asked about it. The Kid (the current father) told like this: “My Children, I found this thing when I was at your age. I kept this along with me all these day. I thought that it was a living creature throughout my childhood. My attachment to this thing grew hard and could not leave it though I knew the reality.” The children satisfied more or less with the answer but felt that it was a precious thing.

Generations passed and the Shankha became their Family Deity. After few generations no one in the family actually knew how they ended up in worshiping the Shankha. All they knew that the Deity protects them from evil and they actually believe.

This is called having faith in something. The faith is driving the mankind. Putting faith in one own self can reach greater heights as the whole world runs on the faith
